Week 3 post 2

The principle point of the film Reel Bad Arabs by Jack Shaheen was to show how stereotypically racist American movies can be towards Arabs. They are all portrayed as violent terrorists. This helps give approval to other Americans racist views towards Arabs, as this is there only experience seeing an Arab. Seeing this makes their racist views seem accurate. This makes me very upset being an Arab American. Having these racist views placed in our society makes it so much harder for our country to find change. Most of our world views come from social media, and Hollywood especially in our youth. These racist perceptions that Hollywood has towards the Arab community is awful. It makes everyday life for people like me and my family much more difficult. It doesn’t change the way I see Middle Eastern perception in media as I was already pretty aware. I have always hated how the average Arab is shown in our country, I find it extremely offensive, and racist.
